Gaitoon Tokyo
Guess where! It’s not Bangkok! Not Thailand! ... It’s In Tokyo, Japan!!
I came back to Tokyo from Bangkok a few days ago. I already miss Thailand!
Today I had an interview for an internship in Shibuya. After that, somehow I ended up coming here, a Khaomangai restaurant.
About 10 minutes walk from the Shibuya station. The restaurant name is “Gaitoon (ไก่ตอน)”.
Khaomangai lovers must know this name. The original restaurant is in Bangkok. I went to the original shop last year. It’s one of the most popular Khaomangai restaurant s in Bangkok.
The picture above is the one I had in Bangkok last year. It’s located near Chitlom station. It’s so popular that there are always lines.
Now, back to Tokyo!
Wonderful! This really looks same as the original one! Even the plate color is same.
The taste is also almost same. The sauce is sweet and gingery. The rice is flavored with garlic and chicken.
The unique point is corianders. I think the owner know how popular corianders in Japan. In the original restaurant in Bangkok, there is no plate of corianders on the side.
After eating, I told a staff(she looks Thai) that I tried Khaomangai in the original restaurant. She said “Yeah, it’s our original restaurant, but this restaurant is no longer in a contractual relationship with the original one. The restaurant became independent as Gaitoon Tokyo, though the taste is same as the original one. “
I was surprised. I hope that the restaurant would continue to inherit the taste.
